The SOMO SOund & MOvement workshop is a creative space where people of all ages and abilities can experience what it’s like to make music with their bodies using SOMO, a wireless wearable motion tracking device. Participants use the experience to explore, collaborate and create a composition of movement and sound.
SOMO is a custom designed circuit board based on the Arduino Leonardo. It includes an accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer and the XBee Series 2. The XBee communication network that allows multiple SOMO’s to generate sound at the same time. The sensor data is processed in Max 7 and Ableton Live.
The SOMO SOund & MOvement workshop grew out of a previous project shared in the XBee Gallery.
